Outcome:  90% of nurse leaders and clinicians will self-report an increase in knowledge of the unique stress of the COVID-19 pandemic and implement strategies to improve quality patient care by the end of the session.

  1. Describe the perception of occupational stress of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic and discuss strategies to successfully manage it.
  2. Examine the prevalence of emotional distress and associated factors experienced in nurses practicing in South Dakota during the COVID-19 pandemic
  3. Examine the results of a set of culturally based interventions with a Native American population and the impact on future health complications
  4. Investigate the level of preparedness, perceived risk of COVID-19 infection and level of mental distress among rural and urban South Dakota Certified Nurse Practitioners during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  5. Discuss the impact of introducing Forensic Nursing and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) education on student nurses' ability to understand the epidemiology of violence and assess for adverse childhood events.
  6. Describe the results of identifying patients who experience psychological distress related to a cancer diagnosis and the impact of implementing patient specific interventions to enhance outcomes and quality of cancer care.
  7. Discuss the process to implement an opioid withdrawal assessment tool in and acute hospital setting
  8. Describe the improvement of peer feedback education on the confidence and quality of peer feedback amongst practicing hospital nurses.
