Overview
Upon completion of this activity the learner will be able to discuss identified research projects conducted at South Dakota State University and Avera while networking with colleagues to determine other research and/or commercialization of current and future projects.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity the learner will:

  1. Recognize the increasing rate of antibiotic resistance in human bacterial pathogens and the urgency of this problem. (Dr. Scaria)
  2. Describe antimicrobial stewardship programs and the alternatives to the use of antibiotics (Dr. Scaria)
  3. Discuss fecal microbiota transplantation and defined bacteriotherapy to treat enteric infections that are refractory to antibiotic treatment. (Dr. Scaria)
  4. Explain how to examine ptient preference and willingness-to-pay for multiple sclerosis treatment. (Dr. Ngorsuraches)
  5. Describe how to engage patients and their family members in multiple sclerosis research. (Dr. Ngorsuraches)
  6. Differentiate kinds of resistant starch, including those naturally present in plant based diets. (Dr. Moul Dey)
