PEACE Rounds is an interdisciplinary case conference designed to proactively review patient situations in a critical care setting that have the potential to create moral distress or potentially clinical ethics concerns. This case conference promotes communication among the healthcare team to intentionally discuss and define goals of care and clinical standards of care, work towards effective communication with patients and families through conflict and provides just in time education and resources to the care team directly from Ethics and communication experts/liaisons.

1. Discuss and analyze team barriers that could impede patient care
2. Review patient situations in a critical care setting that have the potential to create moral distress or potential clinical ethics concerns.
3. Define goals of care to support the care team in clearly aligning patient goals of care and clinical standards of care.
4. Implement immediate support through discussion, just in time education and resources to the care team directly from Ethics and communication experts/liaisons.
5. Promote communication among the health care team to support the team understanding and approach to goals of care, to promote intentional discussion of goals of care
6. Promote effective communication within the healthcare team to more effectively communicate with patients and families through conflict or potentially conflictual communication about care.
7. Integrate a multidisciplinary approach into the development of plan of care.

	Nurse CE: Avera designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
	Social Work: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Avera is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 1.00 Ethics continuing education credit(s).
	Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapy (SD Board of Examiners): Avera is a recognized provider of continuing education, for all counseling related content, for the South Dakota Board of Examiners for Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists. Social Workers will receive 1.00 continuing education clock hour(s) for participating in this course.
