2025 Avera Social Services Article Club

Occurs monthly on the 3rd Tuesday starting on 1/21/2025 at 12:30 PM

This series will allow social workers at Avera McKennan to learn about and develop practice skills through the use of peer-reviewed articles. Each month, selected articles will be discussed as a group, allowing for open discussion regarding current practices and opportunities for improvement. A variety of topics will be covered and focus on cultural competency, human development, mental health, political implications for practice, and current treatment interventions for various medical conditions. The primary focus of this series is to improve patient care and overall employee well-being.

1. Define current issue affecting our patients.
2. Describe best practice intervention when working with patients.
3. Practice greater self-care and perform best practices in patient care.
4. Identify current issues affecting patients in the communities served.
5. Describe article findings and identify best practice for interventions.
6. Implement best practices in realms of both patient care and self-care.
