Overview
The Avera Cancer Institute Oncology Symposium is designed to enhance collaboration between the provider and the multidisciplinary team in caring for individuals with cancer across the continuum of care.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Develop new patterns of thought that naturally veer toward kindness. (Phillips)
  2. Explain methods to diffuse difficult situations with kindness. (Phillips)
  3. The learner will be able to describe the role of chimeric antigen receptor therapy in the treatment of hematologic oncology patients. (Parameswaran)
  4. Describe the latest in the treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma using catheter directed radioembolization. (Yim)
  5. Describe the psychosocial impact of cancer and treatments on reproductive health of young cancer survivors. (Hunter)
  6. Describe the role of palliative care in advanced cancer care. (Arneson)
  7. Compare the generic and biosimilar medication development process. (Lockhorst)
  8. Identify practical challenges of biosimilar use including interchangeability, formulary restrictions, prescribing, dispensing, and research (Lockhorst)
  9. Describe how a specialty pharmacy uses clinical data to report and document interventions (Wollman)
  10. Identify effective methods to assist with patient adherence to medication regimens. (Wollman)
  11. Describe the expected outcomes of rectal cancer treatment (Guardodo)
  12. Explain the appropriate types of rectal cancer management (Guardado)
  13. Identify benefits and risks to consider for various types of treatment (Guardado)
  14. Identify the various risk factors associated with breast cancer (Bryan)
