The 9th Annual USD Geriatric Symposium will be an interactive series of lectures, case studies, and discussions designed to bring interdisciplinary members together to learn with and from each other on topics pertaining to best practices of geriatrics care and developing strategies to improve patient care. The event will be held in-person and virtually.

Objectives
  1. Discuss the mechanism of Dementia inside of the brain.
  2. Discuss the current medication options prescribed for Dementia.
  3. Discuss legal issues of aging, how it relates to dementia patients, how to help patients and caregivers to prepare for aging.
  4. Discuss the issues of dementia and agitation in a long-term care patients.
  5. Discuss mental capacity as it relates to dementia patients.
  6. Discuss current community resources available to dementia patients and their caregivers.
  7. Discuss how collaboration with the interdisciplinary team can lead to improved patient care.
