Infection Preventionists are invited to participate in a dynamic one-day conference focused on advancing knowledge, strengthening collaboration, and enhancing practice in infection prevention and control. This educational experience will explore key topics including antimicrobial stewardship, tuberculosis management, safe handling of soiled instruments, and the critical role of environmental services. Participants will also engage in sessions designed to cultivate a discerning professional mindset and strengthen relationships across healthcare departments to support safer, more effective care delivery.

Target Audience

Objectives
  1. Evaluate opportunities to connect with staff while in leadership positions (Healy)
  2. Review definitions and theories of leadership related to healthcare settings (Healy)
  3. Identify ways to improve communication, trust, and reliability (Healy)
  4. Brainstorm three ideas on connecting with staff and providers when implementing process improvement projects (Healy)
  5. Evaluate strategies for prevention and timely diagnosis of tuberculosis in healthcare settings. (Nazir)
  6. Discuss current treatment approaches and challenges in tuberculosis management. (Nazir)
  7. Review Public health impact and risk factors influencing spread in communities and healthcare settings (Nazir)

  14. Identify the role of the APIC Veterinary IPC Council in strengthening veterinary infection prevention practices and supporting interprofessional collaboration. (Clark/Kollimann)
  15. Apply One Health principles to IPC practice, identifying opportunities for IPC professionals to engage in stewardship efforts and cross-sector collaboration. (Clark/Kollimann)
  16. Reframe Environmental Services as a critical infection prevention function, not every day housekeeping, by understanding the science behind PPE, standard precautions, chemical selection, and dwell time. (Peterson, Price, Jurgens, Balmaceda)
  17. Apply risk based, tiered environmental cleaning strategies that match the right chemical to the right pathogen and support sustainable growth and staffing models. (Peterson, Price, Jurgens, Balmaceda)
