Overview
This two-day multidisciplinary Statewide Trauma Conference is an educational opportunity for the trauma communities across the state of South Dakota. Our goal is to not only provide education, but to create a networking opportunity for the South Dakota trauma community.

Objectives
  1. Review best practice guidelines when caring for the trauma patient.
  2. Discuss and review any new South Dakota trauma program designation criteria.
  3. Discuss trauma coordinator resources to help with designation criteria.
  4. Evaluate resources that can be shared to best improve trauma programs.
  5. Apply best practice guidelines that are discussed to implement into current trauma care.
  6. Discussing and identifying roles and responsibility clarification can lead to improved patient care for the trauma patient.
  7. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals and facilities working with trauma patients throughout the state leads to improved practices.

  In support of improving patient care, Avera is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

   SD EMS: This training has been approved by the SD Dept. of Health for EMS continuing education. EMTs will receive 9.50 continuing education credit(s) for participating in this course.

  MN EMS: This education qualifies as Continuing Education, LCCR, or ICCR in the State of Minnesota. EMTs will receive 9.50 continuing education credit(s) for participating in this course.
