This conference will provide participants with current information in the clinical care and education of persons with diabetes. The target audience is interdisciplinary healthcare providers who work in collaboration to improve diabetes outcomes.

1. Identify criteria for the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes
2. Discuss current options for managing persons at risk for type 1 diabetes
3. Describe guidelines for managing hyperglycemic crisis
4. Review the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
5. Describe strategies for DPP patient success
6. Explain type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children
7. Discuss diabetes emergencies in children, including diagnosis and management
8. Identify the key components of diabetes care in children
9. Define the mechanism of action for GLP-1s
10. Evaluate safety and efficacy considerations with GLP-1s
11. Review practical guidelines on how to manage patients taking GLP-1s
12. Discuss continuous glucose sensors in diabetes care
13. Compare current insulin pump options for persons with diabetes
14. Describe key aspects of patient education for success with diabetes technology
15. Identify the challenges of living with a chronic disease like diabetes
16. Describe strategies for healthy coping with diabetes
17. Recognize tips for healthcare provider self-care
18. Discuss three new recommendations in the ADA Standards of Care 2024
19. State the interdisciplinary role of each team member in implementing the ADA Standards of Care

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.  It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
	Nurse CE: Avera designates this activity for a maximum of 6.0 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nursing Pharmacotherapeutic This activity has been approved for 6.00 pharmacotherapeutic credit(s).
	Pharmacy CE: Avera designates this activity for 6.00 ACPE contact hour(s). Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Credit will be uploaded to the NABP CPE Monitor® within 30 days after the activity completion. Per ACPE rules, Avera does not have access nor the ability to upload credits requested after the evaluation closes. It is the responsibility of the pharmacist or pharmacy technician to provide the correct information (NABP ID and DOB (MMDD)) to receive credit.
