Due to the current  COVID 19 changes we will be including a virtual component to the event so that those not in the area can attend via Zoom. That link will be emailed to all registered attendees. 

Masks are required, temperatures will be taken and social distancing will be enforced for the safety of our audience members.

Overview
Theresa Flores is an educator and human trafficking survivor. She is a licensed Social Worker. After enduring two years of sex slavery in the suburbs of Michigan, Flores felt forced into silence. Now, 30 years later, she speaks out on the silent epidemic of slavery in our nation. Her story defines strength in terrible circumstances, while it also serves an important reminder that human dignity can rise above any circumstance and create positive change.

Target Audience
Professions - Nurse - RN, Physician, Social Worker

Objectives
  1. Explore the prevalence of human trafficking in the US.
  2. Discover what can happen to a victim physically and emotionally when they are trafficked.
  3. Analyze why human trafficking is this prevalent and the legal system process to combat trafficking.
  4. Explore recommendations to prevent trafficking along with treating and restoring victims.
  5. Examine Theresa’s personal story of Human Trafficking
  6. Discuss personal Human trafficking Story

Cancellation Policy:

No refunds will be given for any activity with registration fees $20 and under. A refund less $10 processing fee will be given for cancellations received in writing to [email protected] prior to 5 business days of activity. Following this date, no refunds will be given but substitutions will be accepted.



Accreditation

CME Accreditation:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Avera and Mount Marty University. Avera is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Avera designates this educational activity for a maximum of  5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CNE Accreditation:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and through the joint providership of Avera and Mount Marty University. Avera Health is an Approved Provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Alabama State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. A total of 5.0 contact hours can be received upon completion of this education activity. Attendance at the entire educational activity is required to receive contact hours.

Social Work Accreditation: 
Avera Health Provider #1029 is an approved provider of continuing education by the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners.  Social Workers will receive 5.0 continuing education clock hours for participating in this course
