Overview

The use of Heated High Flow has been increasing over time as equipment has become more widely available and indications for use have grown. HFNC is easy to apply and well tolerated by most patients.

This course will discuss what is heated high flow, what are the indications of heated high flow for the pediatric population, how to initiate heated high flow, how to monitor the patients on heated high flow, and how to wean pediatric patients on heated high flow.


Target Audience
Specialties - Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics
Professions - Administration, Nurse - Nurse Practitioner, Nurse - RN, Nurse -LPN/LVN, Physician, Physician Assistant, Respiratory Therapist

Objectives
100 % of participants will demonstrate knowledge of heated high flow oxygen use by passing post-test with score of 80% or greater following the completion of the education. 

  1. Define what is heated High Flow
  2. Explain what are the indications of heated high flow for the pediatric population
  3. Explain how to initiate heated high flow on a pediatric patient
  4. Explain how to monitor a pediatric patient on heated high flow
  5. Describe how to wean a pediatric patient from heated high flow
