Overview
The vCNE Series is specially designed to update health care team working in acute and ambulatory care settings on hot topics, evidence based practice and Avera’s current strategic initiatives. Donning PPE remains an important part of safety in patient care, along with patient perception of care. Following the tactics within Avera's CARE standards, while donning PPE, is integral to maintaining safe patient care and allowing for excellence at the point of patient care.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
Outcome 80% of the healthcare team will report an increased knowledge on how CARE standards while donning PPE positively impacts patient care and care giver collaboration by passing a post test with a score of 80% or greater at the completion of the activity.

  1. Recognize the need to incorporate new knowledge of changes in practice into their daily care models.
  2. Utilize AIDET as evidenced-based practice to articulate knowledge of why PPE is important, in order to be able to explain to patients why as well.
  3. Define tactics and body language that support our CARE standards as clinical care environment behaviors, even when masked or donning additional PPE.
  4. Utilize communication to impact patient’s perception of care when in situations where PPE can be a barrier.
