  • Manuals will be mailed to the Registrant’s Mailing Address approximately 5 weeks prior to class. (6th Edition Provider Manual included in course registration fee).


Cancellation Policy:

  • Cancellations received 7 or more days prior to the first day of the course qualify for a partial refund of the registration fee; a $78.00 fee (to cover the cost of the provider manual & mailing fees) will be charged to the institution if cancellation occurs after the manual has been mailed. 

  • “No shows” without prior contact with the Course Director are subject to forfeiture of course registration fees.

  • Any substitutions for participant originally registered for this course must be pre-approved by the Course Director.

Successful completion of the “Pediatric Nursing Process Skill Testing Station” is required on   Day 2!

Post-Course Requirements:   Completion of “written test” (on-line & open book format).

Emergency nursing care of a child with an acute illness or injury requires special knowledge and skills. ENA’s Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) is designed to provide the core level knowledge and skills needed to care for pediatric patients in an emergency setting.

The course presents a systematic assessment model, integrates the associated anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, and identifies appropriate interventions. ENPC is the only pediatric emergency nursing course written by pediatric nurse experts.


Objectives
  1. Describe the characteristics of life threatening illness and injury in children
  2. Identify the anatomic and physiologic characteristics of children as a basis for signs and symptoms
  3. Identify the most frequent causes of illness or injury in children
  4. Describe the assessment of pediatric patients with illness or injury
  5. Plan the specific interventions needed to manage the pediatric patient with illness or injury
  6. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions related to patient outcomes
  7. Identify health promotion strategies related to the pediatric population

Contact Hours

The Emergency Nurses Association will award 18.25 contact hours to participants who attend the entire course, regardless of evaluation. Non-RN health care providers working in the emergency care setting may attend this course and will receive contact hours.  They may also participate in the online exam and skill station testing portion of the course.  Non-RN health care providers will not receive a verification card at the completion of the course.

The Emergency Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation
