The 10th Annual USD Geriatric Symposium will be an interactive series of lectures, case studies, and discussions designed to bring interdisciplinary members together to learn with and from each other on topics pertaining to best practices of geriatrics care and developing strategies to improve patient care. The event will be held in-person and virtually.

1. Discuss the last decade of medical care for geriatric patients.
2. Discuss ageism and the effect on medical care for geriatric patients.
3. Discuss the SD Healthy Brain Coalition and Dakota at Home and the work they are doing to help advance medical care for geriatric patients.
4. Discuss nutrition and its roll in healthy aging.
5. Discuss the last decade of medications commonly used in geriatric patients and what might be upcoming in the next decade.
6. Discuss social systems in place for geriatric patients which can affect their quality of healthcare.
7. Discuss new models of care for geriatric patients.
8. Discuss and review case studies that illustrate common difficulties encountered by the IDT in the care of geriatric patients.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.  It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
	Nurse CE: Avera designates this activity for a maximum of 7.50 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
	Social Work: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Avera is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 7.50 Clinical continuing education credit(s).
	Pharmacy CE: Avera designates this activity for 7.50 ACPE contact hour(s). Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Credit will be uploaded to the NABP CPE Monitor® within 30 days after the activity completion. Per ACPE rules, Avera does not have access nor the ability to upload credits requested after the evaluation closes. It is the responsibility of the pharmacist or pharmacy technician to provide the correct information (NABP ID and DOB (MMDD)) to receive credit.
	Nursing Facility Administrator: Avera is an approved provider of continuing education for South Dakota through the South Dakota Board of Nursing Facility Administrators. This educational activity is approved for 7.50 hour(s) for nursing facility administrators.
