Objectives
25% of healthcare professionals will self-report an increase in knowledge and competence of palliative care when caring for persons with a serious illness by the end of symposium.

  1. Learners will strengthen their general knowledge of palliative care.
  2. Identify methods of symptom management for patients living with serious illness.
  3. Gain awareness of efforts being made to facilitate access to palliative services across the region.
  4. Apply tools appropriate to patient’s values and preferences to frame therapeutic options.

Social Work Accreditation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and through the joint providership of Avera and Mt Marty University. Avera Health Provider #1029 is an approved provider of continuing education by the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners.  Social Workers will receive 5.0 continuing education clock hours for participating in this course.

Nursing Facility Administrator
Avera is an approved provider of continuing education for South Dakota through the South Dakota Board of Nursing Facility Administrators. This educational activity is approved for 5.0 hours for nursing facility administrators.
