The 6th Annual USD Geriatric Symposium will be an interactive series of lectures designed to reach many disciplines that provide care to elders on many different topics. The event will be virtual.

Professions - Nurse - Nurse Practitioner, Nurse - RN, Pharmacist, Physician, Social Worker

Objectives
Outcome:  90% of the healthcare team will self report increased knowledge of the changes evolving in geriatric care by the end of the session.

  1. The healthcare team will know at least one strategy in fall prevention
  2. The healthcare team will learn evidence based uses for Cannabis and it’s Pharmacology
  3. The healthcare team will learn what problems to expect when elder adults survive COVID
  4. The healthcare team will be able to identify subtle ageism.

NCPD

Social Work Accreditation: 
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and through the joint providership of Avera and University of South Dakota Geriatrics Fellowship Program (USD). Avera Health Provider #1029 is an approved provider of continuing education by the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners.  Social Workers will receive 7.5 continuing education clock hours for participating in this course.

Nursing Facility Administrator

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the requirements and through the joint providership of Avera and University of South Dakota Geriatrics Fellowship Program (USD).  This educational activity  is approved for 7.5 hours for nursing facility administrators.
