Overview
Upon completion of this program the learner will gather information that will highlight current evidence-based concepts and technology for the evaluation, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular patients.

Objectives
  1. Review the effects of obesity on CVD risk factors and CVD.
  2. Discuss the impact of physical activity and fitness for protecting against CVD mortality and all-cause mortality, including the obesity paradox.
  3. Explain the Fit vs Fat controversy including their relative importance regarding prognosis.
  4. Explain the role of adjuvant therapy with PCSK9 inhibitors, including therapy goals.
  5. Discuss management of common valvular heart conditions in women of childbearing age
  6. Identify high risk valvular heart conditions during pregnancy.
  7. Define the risk factors for atrial fibrillation.
  8. Describe the indications for anticoagulation therapy.
  9. Describe the practical approach to obtain strain images.
  10. Discuss clinical application of strain imaging.
  11. Differentiate the various types of wide complex tachycardia.
  12. Explain how to manage WQT in emergency settings.
  13. Discuss long term management of different types of WCT.
  14. Discuss patient workflow within a heart failure clinic.
  15. Explain guideline directed medical therapy for heart failure patients.
  16. Discuss the role of cardiac testing in evaluating cardiovascular risk for non-cardiac surgical patients.
  17. Describe the clinical approach to preoperative cardiac risk assessment.
  18. Compare and contrast options regarding wearable cardiac defibrillator after myocardial infarction.
