Instructions to Receive Credit

Participants will learn about the Great Plain tribes’ customs, beliefs, and protocols as it relates to Palliative Care. Participants will be given strategies and guidance on how to apply what they’ve learned during this educational activity.

CME Accreditation:
Avera is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing education for physicians. Avera designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM per session.

 NCPD Accreditation:
Avera is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.  A total 1.0 contact hours were awarded for completion of this activity.

 Social Work Accreditation: 
Avera Health Provider #1029 is an approved provider of continuing education by the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners.  Social Workers will receive 1.0 continuing education clock hours for participating in this course.

 Nursing Facility Administrator:
Avera is an approved provider of continuing education for South Dakota through the South Dakota Board of Nursing Facility Administrators. This educational activity is approved for 1.0 hours for nursing facility administrators.

1. Demonstrate Native American culturally sensitive approaches to palliative care for healthcare providers.
2. Identify cultural customs, beliefs and protocols when working with NA patients, caregivers, and families.
3. Learn protocols to assist NA patient and families when facing a serious illness, and during end of life care.
