Pharmacy Pearls for Prescribers provides up-to-date information on medications, developed by a multidisciplinary group of AMG primary care physicians and pharmacists from Avera Health and Avera Health Insurance Division. An interdisciplinary group has been working to develop educational materials to meet this need. In this series we will discuss antimicrobial management related to: penicillin allergies: delabeling, challenging and desensitizing; asymptomatic bacteriuria: when to treat and when not to treat; procedural prophylaxis against infective endocarditis; maybe 7 isn't lucky for antibiotic treatment duration.

Avera is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing education for physicians. Avera designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM per session.

Avera is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. A total 1.00 contact hours can be received upon completion of this activity.  This activity has been approved for 1.0 pharmacotherapeutic credits.
